The Department of Pediatrics at Khatlon State Medical University was formally established by Academic Council decision No. 01/04 on August 28, 2019. Prior to its establishment as an independent department, pediatric education was conducted under the Department of Therapeutic Sciences.
The department is responsible for teaching two primary disciplines: Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases and Pediatrics. During the 2020–2021 academic year, the department comprised 10 staff members, including 9 assistants:

In recognition of its academic and organizational achievements, the department was honored with the title of Best Department at Bukhara State Medical University for the 2020–2021 academic year and was awarded an official diploma. Faculty and students have actively participated in international academic events. Assistant Muzaffarov D.B. and 4th-year medical student Sattorova A.P. earned 2nd and 3rd place at the 2021 International Online Conference of Young Scientists and Students. Additionally, students Sattorova A.P. and Rajabov N.O. achieved top rankings in the Online Pediatrics Olympiad organized by Bukhara Medical Institute.
Since its inception, the Department of Pediatrics has published over 50 scientific articles, 6 lecture courses, 2 research projects funded by the Presidential Foundation, and several educational and methodological manuals. The department also promotes student engagement through the Healthy Child club, which has been active for two years and currently includes 30 enthusiastic students from the university.
